Starting January 1, 2023, River Valley Comm. Health will be changing our practice to Direct Care.

What does Direct care mean?

Starting January 1, 2023, we will no longer submit claims to insurance.

Patients will pay upfront at each visit a set fee amount based on services provided.

This will allow us to focus more time and energy on what matters to us; you the patient!

If you are a primary care patient you will be mailed a letter in the next few weeks with more details.

If you have insurance and wish to pursue reimbursement you will be provided a receipt and superbill which you may submit to your insurance. We cannot guarantee reimbursement, so we encourage you to discuss this with your insurance company.

If you have a Health Savings Account or Flex Spending Account you are welcome to use that form of payment.

Unlike many other Direct Care Practices, we will NOT charge a monthly membership. You only will be charged for an appointment at the time of service. No surprise bills months after insurance are processed!

Why did we choose to make this change?

There are many reasons, but mainly due to low and delayed reimbursement from insurances and increasing costs we find this change to be necessary to remain sustainable. We want to provide a fair living wage to our staff and refocus our time with our patients rather than addressing billing challenges.

We understand this billing model may not work for all of our patients, and to you, we apologize. You may want to use the next four months to evaluate your insurance plan, HSA/FSA plans and make an informed decision on what is best for your care.

The one thing that will not change is our dedication to providing quality care. We are
opening our Primary Care panel back up for those looking to establish care. Please feel free to call our office with any questions!

Thank you.
